Rae Gabelich -- Grassroots Advocate Opposed To Expanded Airport Facilities & Operations -- Will Run For 8th District Council Seat

LBHUSH1 Dec 5 (2)(Dec. 22, 2003, updated Dec. 23) -- LBReport.com has learned that Rae Gabelich, who founded the LBHUSH2, the city's largest and most active group opposing expansion of Airport facilities and operations, will seek the 8th district City Council seat currently held by incumbent Rob Webb.

Ms. Gabelich, who has repeatedly urged that studies be done on the health, homeowner and taxpayer impacts of the City Hall run Airport, previously served on the city's Recreation Commission.

At midday today, she formally requested papers from the City Clerk's office that when filed will put her name on the April 2004 ballot.

Ms. Gabelich told LBReport.com, "I consider Rob a friend, but this is about leadership."

Incumbent Webb has previously indicated he will seek reelection.

8th district resident Terry Jensen has previously announced he plans to enter the race.

    Developing.
