Ass'ywoman Oropeza Has Successful Surgery To Remove Cancerous Growth From Liver; Doctors Find No Evidence Of Disease Now & Oropeza Doesn't Expect Routine Preventive Chemo To Interfere w/ Legislative Work

(December 3, 2004) -- LB area Assemblywoman Jenny Oropeza (D., Carson-LB) had a maligant growth removed from her liver in October...and her office says doctors gave her welcome news -- "N.E.D. -- no evidence of disease" -- following the surgery.

Press Secretary Ray Sotero adds that the growth was found at an early stage and the Assemblywoman does not expect routine preventive chemotherapy to interfere with her legislative work (which includes chairing the Assembly Transportation Committee and membership on several other committees).

Assemblywoman Oropeza, who served on the LB City Council (1994-2002) and LB Unified School District Board (1988-1994), was reelected to a third two-year Assembly term last month.
