(December 23, 2005) -- LBPD says a Park Ranger, patrolling an El Dorado Park parking lot area last night (Dec. 22) at about 10:17 p.m., observed a vehicle parked in the parking lot...and statements at the scene indicate the vehicle struck the Park Ranger, causing him to fire one round.
Details are sketchy as we post. LBPD says the vehicle was located a short time later at a local hospital where a vehicle occupant (identified only as a male adult) was taken for a leg wound.
LBPD's Homicide Detail (which investigates all officer-involved shootings) is investigating this incident. Anyone with information can contact Long Beach Police Homicide Detectives Dave Rios or William Matsubara at (562) 570-7244.
