(Dec. 9, 2007) - LBReport.com proudly presents on-demand special event video coverage of LB's Daisy Ave. "Christmas Tree Lane" Parade (Dec. 8).
To our knowledge, LBReport.com is the only LB media outlet to provide video coverage of this one-of-a-kind LB neighborhood event this year. Unlike other major Christmas parades, this one doesn't go down a major thoroughfare (in part to boost business). It runs through a residential area as a matter of neighborhood pride...just as it did when residents started it on a grassroots level years ago.
Decorations line a street median, and area homes are decorated with lights.
The parade has morphed into a City Hall sponsored event but still retains its neighborhood flavor, operating with major volunteer involvement that create grassroots touches unimaginable elsewhere.
Veteran WLB activist John Cross, a recent appointee to LB's powerful Redevelopment Agency governing board, walked behind the LB Mounted Police equestrian unit, proudly carrying a shovel (to audience applause).
Sharing a laugh behind him in an electric cart were two other long-time WLB activists: Nick Sramek, recently appointed by Mayor Bob Foster to LB's Harbor Commission, and wife Patti Sramek, a field rep to Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga.
Also in the parade, Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D., Carson-LB), greeting residents on a first name basis. One year ago, she was newly elected to the state Assembly after representing LB's 6th Council district for six years.
This is the longest special event video LBReport.com has produced and hosted to date. We've posted about ten minutes unsponsored...which may cost us a few hundred dollars out of pocket in bandwidth (and would consume even more if it's longer).
If Santa Claus delivers a sponsor, we'll make an extended and customized CD version available (tip: makes a great holiday company gift, etc.)
And no, we're not going to cut corners by using "YouTube" for this. It's our video and we want it on our site.
So...enjoy the world's first-ever webcast video coverage of LB's 2007 Daisy Ave. "Christmas Tree Lane Parade" on LBReport.com.
