  • (Dec. 16, 2009, updated) -- LBReport.com has learned that Doug Haubert, a former LB Deputy City Prosecutor, now an attorney in private practice, is entering the race for City Prosecutor.

The announcement sets up an election contest with Assistant City Prosecutor Tim O'Reilly, who has previously indicated he's seeking to succeed his boss, incumbent City Prosecutor Reeves in the April 2010 elections. The release says Mr. Haubert has extensive experience in both civil and criminal prosecution and has previously served as a City Prosecutor for other cities throughout Southern California.

"With my experience in civil and criminal prosecution, I am dedicated to making sure that Long Beach residents can live the best quality of life in this City," said Mr. Haubert in the release. "I look forward to working with residents to make Long Beach a safer City for everyone."
