(Dec. 3, 2009) -- LBReport.com has learned that in a written communication to be presented to the LB Planning Commission's hearing tonight (5:00 p.m.) regarding agenda item 1 (6400 Loynes Local Coastal Development Permit) [concerning the Loynes-South/Hitchcock/2H parcel], 4th dist. Councilman Patrick O'Donnell states that "this sad event [clearing the land of vegetation, March 2009] has stirred up a significant amount of emotion and concern within our community"...

At minimum, the subject property should be restored to its state prior to the destructive grading that took place on March 20, 2009. This position is reasonable and appropriate.
Should the subject Local Coastal Development Permit move forward, I respectfully recommend the addition of restoration conditions. This site should be restored to its condition immediately prior to the un-permitted grading that took place as it is in the best interest of the environment, community, and our future efforts to protect our most vulnerable natural resources.
