| (Dec. 29, 2011) -- Charges have been filed against four of six commercial burglary suspects arrested on Christmas Day by Long Beach police and Board of Education officers in connection with two commercial burglaries at LB schools.
In a release, LBPD says its officers and BOE officers responded on Christmas Day to Garfield Elementary School and arrested two men (adults) who allegedly entered the building and removed property. That call came in at 11:15 a.m. Sunday (Christmas Day); officers detained one suspect who had left the school with property, then set up a perimeter, spotted a second suspect leaving the building and took him into custody as well; his backpack was located nearby and allegedly stolen electronics and other school property was found inside, according to the release. The men arrested for commercial burglary were identified as William Minor, 19, of Long Beach, and Keyray Stinson, 18, of Los Angeles. Minor was also booked for allegedly resisting arrest and Stinson was booked for allegedly providing a false identity to a police officer, according to the release. Minor and Stinson were charged as booked by the City Prosecutor on December 28. Long Beach police officers were then called to Hughes Middle School at 1:57 p.m. Sunday to assist BOE officers with another school burglary which resulted in the arrests of two adults and two juveniles on charges of commercial burglary. The adults were identified as Christopher Rebolo, 20, of Signal Hill and Christian Alvarez,19, of Long Beach. One juvenile was 16, from Long Beach and the other was 14, from Signal Hill. The City Prosecutor charged Rebolo and Alvarez with trespassing on December 28. The two juveniles will have a separate court date in the future at which they could face charges as well, according to the release. Several schools have been burglarized in recent months and it is unknown at this time if these two incidents are related to any previous burglaries, but detectives are looking at all the cases for possible connections. The Board of Education and the Long Beach Police Department regularly work together to provide unified enforcement of criminal activity on or near school property and to heighten the safety of school campuses whether schools are closed or in session.
