(Dec. 6, 2014, 7:10 p.m.) -- LBPD has identified the victim in today's predawn NLB murder (reported earlier today by LBREPORT.com) as Miguel Martinez, 27, of Long Beach and says in a release: "The victim was not a gang member and a motive for the shooting is unknown."

LBPD PIO Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com: At about 2:40 a.m., LBPD responded to shots heard in area of Atlantic Ave./Artesia Blvd. and arriving officers found a man (adult) victim in a vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by LBFD. LBPD Homicide detectives responded and their investigation is ongoing. A few hours earlier at about 10:00 p.m. about two miles east in NLB, officers were dispatched to possible shots heard in the area of the 3300 block of 67th Street. Arriving officers determined gunfire hit an occupied apartment...but no person was hit. That investigation is also ongoing.
