(Dec. 8, 2014, 11:35 p.m.) -- LBPD says a Belmont Shore area resident (200 block Granada) armed himself against an intruder on Sunday night (Sun. Dec. 7)...and the suspect jumped to run away, startling the resident who accidentally discharged his weapon.

LBPD PIO Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com that the suspect (a male adult) wasn't struck and fled...and when LBPD officers arrived, they found the suspect in a tree.

The suspect fell; LBFD transported him to a hospital for evaluation...and he's been booked. LBPD's investigation is ongoing.
