(UPDATED Dec. 8, 10:30 p.m.) -- As previewed earlier today (Dec. 8) on LBREPORT.com, the International Space Station orbited nearly directly over Long Beach and the L.A.-OC area in the early evening tonight (Dec. 8). Despite a few high clouds, it was clearly visible...and quite bright.
The giant spacecraft became visible in the SW sky at about 5:37 p.m.,,then rose to a sky-height of 85 degrees (90 degrees is straight up) just before 5:41 p.m. and then headed into the NE sky, disappearing from view about 5:44 p.m. so At its closest point, the spacecraft was only roughly 256 miles above us.
