Rocket Launch From Vandenberg Clearly Visible In Long Beach (180 Miles Away)

(Dec. 12, 2014) -- LBREPORT.com previewed it on our front page and on Facebook, but we weren't sure anything would be visible...but it sure was.

The Friday night (Dec. 12) launch of an Atlas V rocket from Vandenberg AFB, carrying a classified payload, was CLEARLY visible from Long Beach...and an awesome sight.

The rocket's orange flame was clearly visible in the western sky as it rose over rooftops and treetops in ELB from its launch site roughly 180 miles away.

As the rocket rose higher, it produced a "flare" image.
