(Dec. 25, 2015, 4:22 p.m.) -- On Christmas Day, an SCE power outage that began before dawn impacted at its height at least a thousand customers (estimated several times more people) in an area roughly between Locust and De Forest Aves. and from 7th to 14th Sts. Most had their power back on in about two and half hours, but for 400+, it took nine fours to get power back.

SCE spokesperson Lauren Bartlett tells LBREPORT.com that the outage was caused by an "overhead equipment failure" [sorry no further details]. It began at 5:24 a.m. and affected 1,037 customers [caveat: each "customer" is a metered account, so the number of people in families or buildings with a single meter could be several times higher.]

SCE says it power restored to all but 462 customers by 7:53 a.m...and those remaining had their power back oin at about 2:19 p.m.
