(Dec. 8, 2016, 6:20 a.m.) -- On Dec 6 in the 9 p.m. hour, the FBI issued the following release, adding that it's not providing further information as its investigation continues.

[FBI release text] Working with our law enforcement partners, the FBI has found no evidence that the threat made to the Los Angeles Metro Red Line is credible. Based on significant similarities, law enforcement partners also believe the anonymous caller may have, on a previous occasion, reported threats that did not materialize.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) will continue to investigate to determine the identity of the caller and will continue to evaluate information developed from investigative efforts...

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Los Angeles Police Department remain on a heightened state of awareness with increased directed patrol deployments where deemed necessary. Both agencies report that they have not experienced any significant problems or disruptions on the Los Angeles transit systems. We continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and to report activity they consider to be suspicious to the FBI, or by dialing 911.

On Dec. 5 at a 6 p.m. news conference, the FBI's WLA HQ, FBI Assistant Dir. in Charge Deirdre Fike said the Joint Terrorism Task Force received information relayed (Dec. 5) from the agency's "international partners" (from abroad but didn't cite a specific country) of a potential threat regarding the Metro Red Line at Universal City. She said the information came through an anonymous phone call made on a public safety line had some specificity to it and its credibility was still being determined and vetted.
