Homeless Man Found Dead In Alley At Dawn New Year's Eve (900 block Elm) May Be LB's Final 2017 Homicide Victim

(Dec. 31, 2017) -- A man believed to be homeless was found dead at dawn New Year's Eve in an alley roughly a block south of St. Mary Medical Center.
In a release, LBPD says that at about 6:15 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Elm Ave. (1st Council district) regarding a call reporting a person down and found a man in an alley with a head injury. The victim, who police say appeared to be homeless, was pronounced dead at the scene by LBFD paramedics.
"The preliminary investigation determined the victim may have been struck by a blunt object. A motive for the incident is unknown and no suspect information is available. The investigation remains ongoing."
The L.A. County Coroner’s Office will determine the victim's identity and official cause of death.
