(Dec. 3, 2017, 3:45 p.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has learned that a man became the victim of an attempted armed robbery in which he was shot along Atlantic Ave. between Del Amo Blvd. and Market St. in the midnight hour today (Sunday) (8th Council district).

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brad Johnson tells LBREPORT.com that on December 3, 2017 at roughly 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a possible shooting.

The victim was approached by several suspect(s) who attempted to rob him. During the robbery a male suspect (age not indicated) shot the victim who suffered what's described as a "non-life threatening gunshot." LBFD transported him to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect(s) fled the area in an unknown vehicle. LBPD is investigating the incident as possibly gang related.
