(March 16, 2008) -- In a March 14 story on the March 13 LB Democratic Club's endorsement of Vice Mayor Bonnie Lowenthal for Assembly, we misdirected the target of a statement by Assemblywoman Tonia Reyes Uranga, who told us by telephone after the event that she (Uranga) hadn't loaned her campaign $100,000 to puff up her campaign filing.

We presumed -- inaccurately -- that she was referring to her Dem opponent in the Assembly race, Vice Mayor Bonnie Lowenthal...but Councilwoman Uranga was actually referring to Republican Assembly candidate Gabriella Holt.

Campaign filings indicate that Ms. Holt had loaned her campaign $100,000 as of the end of 2007.

Vice Mayor Lowenthal hasn't loaned her Assembly campaign committee $100,000. We misunderstood and misdirected Councilwoman Reyes Uranga's words and we've updated the article text to remove the misdirected reference.
