Car Plunges Off 710 Fwy Shoemaker Bridge At 7th St. And Into MTA Storage Yard; Driver Perishes
| (February 14, 2003) -- At roughly 10:30 p.m. on February 13, a car leaving downtown LB at 7th St. and headed toward the northbound 710 freeway plunged roughly 60 ft. off the Shoemaker bridge, landing in an MTA storage yard below with the car wedged between two buses.
The driver, a 47 year old Bellflower resident, was ejected and landed some distance away between two other buses. |

LBFD Rescue 3 arrived within three minutes and provided advance life support, CPR, IVs and intubation and the driver was rushed to a local hospital. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries.
