(February 25, 2004) -- LB police are advising the public of a series of robberies that have occurred in the ELB area since November 2003...and urge the public to be vigilant...and to provide any information they may have.
In a written release, LBPD says that in most cases, the victims drive their vehicle to a driveway or garage and as they exit the vehicle, a lone, male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt approaches, armed with a handgun.
The suspect demands money or property such as a purse or wallet, then flees on foot to a nearby vehicle where a second suspect is waiting.
The suspects have targeted men and women who were alone as well as couples. These robberies have occurred between 7 p.m. and early morning.
Police are encouraging the public to be more vigilant and to contact them if they see any suspicious vehicles or persons in their neighborhoods. The public should not attempt to contact these suspicious persons but to call 9-1-1, LBPD says.
Anyone with information, such as vehicle descriptions, license plate numbers or physical descriptions of the suspects is asked to call LBPD Robbery Detective Don Collier at (562) 570-7465.
