(February 29, 2004) -- The supermarket strike at local Ralphs, Vons/Pavilions and Albvertsons stores is over.
Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 770 who work at local Ralphs, Vons/Pavilions and Albertsons stores have ratified a new contract negotiated by union leadership with store management.
The strike began on October 11, 2003 when workers walked off the job at Safeway owned (Vons/Pavilions) stores...and workers were in turn locked out at Albertsons and Kroger (Ralphs) stores.
