(February 17, 2004) -- If you live in the area bounded by Pacific Coast Highway and 7th St. from Cherry to Redondo Aves., you can get a free anti-auto theft steering wheel lock -- "The Club" -- as part of a program partnered by the Long Beach Police Department, City Hall's Neighborhood Services Bureau and "The Club's" manufacturer, Winner International.
LBPD's monthly crime prevention meeting (date, time and location below) is open to all LB residents and will focus on auto theft prevention efforts with plenty of educational information available. However, the free "Club" steering wheel locks are only for residents in what equates to LBPD Beat 11: PCH to 7th, Cherry to Redondo.
Eligible residents must attend LBPD's monthly crime prevention meeting to sign up for the free "Club" on Wednesday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the LB Water Dept., 1800 E. Wardlow Rd..
Important: to participate in the anti-theft program, you'll have to provide proof of vehicle ownership and residence in the target neighborhood. LBPD says eligible residents will receive "The Club" steering wheel lock free of charge.
