Schwarzenegger Appoints LB Chamber Board Chair Bynum To Economic Strategy Panel
(February 2, 2005) -- CA Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed ou Anne Bynum, Chairman of the Board of the LB Area Chamber of Commerce, to a position on California's Economic Strategy Panel.
Ms. Bynum is also VP and Assistant Superintendent for Economic Development for the LB Community College District, where she has served since 1997. She's previously taught at UCLA, CSULB and LBCC.
As described on its web site, the Economic Strategy Panel is a bipartisan panel established in 1993 "to develop an overall economic vision and strategy to guide public policy. The Panel engages in an objective and collaborative biennial planning process that examines economic regions, industry clusters, and cross-regional economic issues."
The 15-member panel consists of eight appointees by the Governor, two appointees each by the President pro Tempore and Speaker, and one each by the Senate and Assembly Minority Floor Leaders. The secretary of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency serves as the chair.
The Governor's other appointees to the panel are:
James Beno of Lodi, directing business representative for Machinists Automotive Trades District 190;
Joseph Fernandez of Carlsbad, president & CEO of Active Motif Inc.;
Barry Hibbard of Bakersfield, VP of commercial industrial marketing for Tejon Ranch Co.;
Tim Rios, 34, of Fresno, VP & community development manager for Wells Fargo Bank
Scott Syphax of Elk Grove, President/CEO of Nehemiah Corporation of America;
Jill Werner of Pacific Palisades, co-president and CEO of Federated Linen and Uniform Services; and
Pablo Wong of San Francisco, director of diversity marketing for First American Title Insurance Corporation
The positions do not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary.
