(Feb. 18, 2007) -- A fundraiser aiming to help recovering LBPD officers Roy Wade, Jr. and Abe Yap -- shot in the line of duty Dec. 22 in downtown LB -- is scheduled for Wednesday night Feb. 21 at the Gaslamp Restaurant, 6251 E. Pacific Coast Highway (PCH @ Loynes Dr.)
Organizers say proceeds from food and drink specials will go to the Long Beach Police Officers Association Widows and Oprhans Fund to help support Officers Wade and Yap and their families.
And as a free treat, there'll be live music from Blue Steel, a band comprised of talented LBPD officers. [Comment: We've heard 'em...and they rock!]
Plus, there'll also be an opportunity drawing with proceeds to the help the officers via LBPOA.
We're told that Gaslamp owner Alicia Shelton deserves credit for this good deed, along with Southern Wine & Spirits for their generosity and support.
They've made doing the right thing delicious and easy. Just drop by the Gaslamp Restaurant on Wednesday evening (doors open at 5 p.m., music starts at 7 p.m.) and buy some of the food specials (and if you're not driving, drinks) to help LBPOA's Widows and Orphans Fund assist officers Wade and Yap and their families.
