(Feb. 18, 2008) -- LBReport.com provides below on-demand audio of chats we had with the LB School Board ballot candidates present at the Feb. 9 Pressburg brunch.
Attending were (Central LB/WLB) Boardmember Dr. Felton Williams and his challenger Rosa Diaz...and the two candidates for the SE LB School Board seat Paul Crost and Karen Thomas Hilburn who are challenging incumbent School Boardmember Jon Meyer.
School Board member Meyer didn't attend but we hope to catch up with him shortly and provide on-demand audio of our chat with him.
The Pressburg brunch is casual/off-the-cuff and so were our conversations...although they were on the record. The event started at about 9:30 a.m. but we arrived about 10:45 a.m...by which time Dr. Williams and Ms. Hilburn (having showed up on time) were headed off for other events [our fault for being late]. Accordingly, we called them after the fact to do by telephone what we would have done at the event in person.
All spoke conversationally, communicating but not orating. This wasn't a stage presentation; they spoke with us but they're really speaking to you.
The WLB/Central race will be decided in April 2008. The 3-way SE LB race will be won by whoever gets 50% + 1 of the votes in April OR if no one gets that majority, then the top two finishers will compete in a June 2008 runoff. The elections affect more than each geographic district; each School Boardmember has an equal vote in deciding policies districtwide.
Audio is in the MP3 format; they're large files and may take several seconds to download; we indicate edits (for repetition, digressions, etc.) with a "whoosh" sound. (Some household sounds on our end also came through, along with phone crackles...but substantive points are still communicated).
