News w/ Photos LBFD Extricates Truck Driver Pinned In Cab After Container Falls From Stack At Port
(Feb. 4, 2009) -- LB Firefighters swiftly performed a significant extrication at the Port of Long Beach on Tuesday night (Feb. 3).
LBFD Public Information Officer Capt. Jackawa Jackson says that at about 7:22 p.m., LBFD responded to Pier J Berth 243 where a container had fallen from the top of stack onto the cab of a truck, pinning a 42 year old driver.

Fire crews applied their skills and in roughly fifteen minutes managed to remove the patient from the wreckage.

The driver was transported to a local trauma center in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.
PIO Jackson indicates that it's believed the container was knocked free from a container stack by a moving crane.
