(Feb. 22, 2009) -- A woman and her dog were ejected onto the 710 freeway (just south of the 91 freeway) in the predawn hours today (Sunday Feb. 22).
LBFD Public Information Officer Capt. Jackawa Jackson says responding units responded at 2:42 a.m. to find that a VW Bug was involved and the female driver in her 20's was thrown from the car, along with her dog.
A male passenger remained in the car. The man and woman were transported to a hospital with what were described as minor injuries. LB Animal Care Services was called to care for the dog.
Capt. Jackson says information available to him indicates the dog was breathing but unable to walk. [We have no further information on the dog's condition for now].
Further information on the accident is unclear.
There were no other reports of injuries to civilians or firefighters.
