(Feb. 10, 2010) -- Tonight (Feb. 10), the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club endorsed the following candidates in the April 2010 LB election cycle:
1st dist: Robert Garcia
3rd dist. Tom Marchese
5th dist. Gerrie Schipske
7th dist. Tonia Reyes Uranga
9th dist. Brad Shore
The group's bylaws state in pertinent part that "endorsements of a Democratic candidate may be made in any election. An affirmative vote of 60% of those present and voting, including abstentions, will constitute an endorsement."
The group's mission statement as indicated on its website is:
Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club was formed as a Democratic Club under the guidelines and affiliation of the California Democratic Party and the California Democratic Council with the purpose of furthering the human and civil rights of all minorities, especially those of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people.
