(Feb. 15, 2010) -- As first reported Feb. 5 by TheDistrictWeekly.com, the Westboro Baptist Church (a Kansas based group) says it is coming to Long Beach to picket and demonstrate at several locations from Feb. 19-21. An image of the group's website (screen save) is below:
Its Feb. 19-21 picket schedule includes the Alpert Jewish Community Center (multiple visits), Wilson High School, LB Temple Beth Shalom, LB Temple Israel, CA Cornerstone Church (SE LB) and the LB Convention Center. Also listed is a Temple in Westminster, CA, the Chinese Golden Dragon Parade in Los Angeles, and the Seal Beach Naval Weapons station.
The website's description of its scheduled plans speaks for itself and can be viewed here.
On Jan. 28, Antonio Ruiz (founder of the TheCreativityNetwork.org and independent contributor to LBReport.com) has said on Facebook that he favors rallying "as many people as possible to greet these people "with a Wall of Peace. Not more hate. Nor violence." (Image from Mr. Ruiz authored Facebook page).
And a Facebook listing from an unidentified person -- "Protest AGAINST God Hates Fags" tells viewers that the church is bringing a "hateful homophobic and anti-semitic protests to schools and churches here in our beautiful city of Long Beach. Join your neighbors and friends as we stand up together in celebration of our cities diversity. INVITE EVERYONE ON YOUR [Facebook FRIENDS LIST."
