(Feb. 1, 2012, initial report 7:20 a.m., multiple updates) -- LBReport.com provides access to the latest campaign contribution data in the race for the newly drawn LB-OC Congressional seat. For the period Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 2011:

  • LB Councilman Gary DeLong's Congressional campaign raised $157,066 (including $1,000 from LB First Lady Nancy Foster) ($151,566 from individuals + $5,500 from Political Action Committees) -- which when added to sums raised previously in the campaign brings the campaign's total contributions to date to $412,672. The DeLong campaign reports cash on hand (after expenses) as of Jan. 1 of $367,486. To see a detailed list of the DeLong campaign's contributors in the most recent reporting period, click here.

Among LB recognizable names: Roy Hearrean, Lou Baglietto, Art Levine, Rich Brizendine, John Hancock, Wilbur Lorbeer, Becky Blair, Joe Prevratil, Mitch Rouse, Glenn Ray, Randall Hernandez, Fred Khammar, Jim Michaelian, Jim Choura (Lakewood), Also noted from OC: Ken Khachigian.. And from NY: David Barger (JetBlue CEO). Among PACs: JetBlue PAC, Molina Healthcare PAC, Valero PAC

[update] Candidate DeLong's campaign issued the following statement today: "It is gratifying to continue to be the leader in fundraising. It is clear that my goals of reducing the cost of the Federal government, growing the economy, and creating jobs is striking a chord amount voters in the new 47th Congressional District. With over 600 individuals contributing to the campaign, these voters believe that sending a small businessman with a track record of balancing City budgets to Congress is a much better option than a career politician. Constituents recognize that the federal government is headed in the wrong direction, and that I understand the need to create an environment that encourages a growing economy and job creation -- instead of further punishing employers by higher tax rates and excessive regulation." [end update]

  • State Senator (and former LB Councilman) Alan Lowenthal -- the only Democrat in the race -- raised more money than DeLong within the most recent ninety day reporting period: $166,330 (includes $49,005 from PACs). When added to roughly $39,000 collected in the previous reporting period (including $5,000 from the candidate himself), the Lowenthal campaign has collected $205,630 to date and reports cash on hand Jan. 1 of $169,221.

Among LB recognizable names: John Allen, Ray Alpert, Phil Appleby, Doug Drummond, Carl Kemp, Gerald Miller, Doug Otto, Joe Prevratil, Barbara Shoag, Anthony Tortorice, Lillian Kawasaki. Among PACs: Maersk, Matson, ILWU, SSA, Sheet Metal Workers, United Food & Comm'l Workers, CA Pipe Trades Council

Also among contributors are a number of current and former state lawmakers via their controlled political committees: Bonnie Lowenthal for State Senate Committee, Elaine Alquist for Sec'y of State, Lara for Assembly, Furutani for Assembly. Also noted: former state Senate president pro tem Don Perata [individual contribution, identifies himself as "political engineer"]

  • Los Alamitos Councilman Troy Edgar's campaign reports the largest cash on hand as of Jan. 1 -- $456,349 -- which consists of $405,000 loaned to the campaign by the candidate himself: $200,000 during the most recent 90 day period. The Edgar campaign reported raising $61,593 in the most recent reporting period ($82,011 in the election cycle to date). [Query: How much of his personally loaned money will candidate Edgar spend in the next six months?]

  • Former Congressman Steve Kuykendall raised $46,643 in the 90 day period ending Jan. 1 ($69,876 to date in the election cycle). It reports cash on hand as of Jan. 1 of $37,659.

Another Republican, Sanford Kahn, has also declared his candidacy in the race. [There's no FEC data online regarding his campaign as of Feb. 1]. Mr. Kahn ran unsuccessfully in the Republican primary for the Assembly in 2000 and was a Republican declared candidate for Congress in l988 and l990.

Under a voted enacted change in procedure, the top two finishers in June -- regardless of Party -- will proceed to a November runoff (this year coinciding with the U.S. Presidential race).
