(Feb. 1, 2015) -- LBREPORT.com has learned that the following took place while most of Long Beach slept on Sunday Feb. 1.
LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. The individual with the warrant was also allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and what PIO Zabel described as several identity theft profiles. One the profiles allegedly related to a victim who recently filed a police report stating that someone had attempted to open a fraudulent account in their name.
Responding officers also located two GPS units in the vehicle. In conducting some investigative efforts, officers located one of the owners of the GPS units and determined the unit had been stolen from the owner's vehicle. The owner of the GPS unit hadn't realized yet that the unit had been stolen.
PIO Zabel noted that the person with the warrant is now off the street and these crimes will be investigated, as a result of the work of the East Division graveyard officers. "This is just one example of how an officer conducting a stop for a simple traffic violation can lead to uncovering other more serious crimes," she said. blog comments powered by Disqus Recommend LBREPORT.com to your Facebook friends:
