(Feb. 6, 2015.) -- There's a new chapter in the history of Radio Shack: Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Of the 4,000 company owned Radio Shack stores, four in Long Beach, four in Lakewood and one in Signal Hill are on a "potential store closure list" on the company's website (specifics below.). As for the rest, an entity formed to acquire between 1,500 and 2,400 of Radio Shack's U.S. company owned stores in an agreement with Sprint plans to [Radio Shack release] "establish a new dedicated mobility 'store within a store' retail presence in up to 1,750 of the acquired stores." [That may be the fate of the Radio Shack location in the ELB Plaza shopping area (SE quadrant Palo Verde/Spring.) The stores all remain open for business...for now.
