(Feb. 3, 2015, UPDATED 9:07 p.m.) -- LBPD says its preliminary numbers show roughly 80 vandalism reports have been taken since January 31st related to BB gun window damage. LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Megan Zabel says PD isn't certain at this point about the number of suspects involved.

(Feb. 3, 2015, 9:05 a.m.) -- As flashed earlier this morning on our front page, LBREPORT.com has learned that over two dozen vandalism incidents (preliminary total thus far) struck at least two Long Beach neighborhoods last night (Mon. In an emailed statement, LBPD indicates that at about 9:30 p;m. Monday night (Feb. 2) it began receiving reports of vehicle and business windows being shot out with a BB gun in the vicinity of 8th St./LB Blvd.

Within an hour, LBPD says reports started coming in in the Naples area of similar incidents.

"Multiple police reports have been taken and the investigation remains ongoing. Officers have interviewed witnesses and are searching for surveillance video," LBPD says in a statement.

[LBPD statement] So far there have been approximately 25 incidents of vandalized windows reported throughout the city [on Monday night Feb. 2], however this number is preliminary, as we do not know how many more reports will come in throughout the day when residents may discover their windows vandalized.

Thankfully no reports of injury have been reported related to these incidents.

Based upon the preliminary investigation, the suspect vehicle is described as an older 4 door black or blue Honda or BMW with a spoiler and chrome tail pipes. The vehicle most likely has a modified exhaust as witnesses has described the vehicle as "loud."

Officers city wide have been notified of this and are on the lookout for the suspects. Two officers have been dedicated to investigating this today.

If anyone finds their windows have been vandalized within the City of Long Beach, or if anyone has information regarding these incidents, they are urged to contact the Long Beach Police Department at (562) 435-6711.
