(Feb. 12, 2017, 12:25 p.m.) -- Long Beach had its second shooting of the day on Sunday (Feb. 12). It left a man wounded in the northern part of LB's Willmore City neighborhood (1st Council district/Gonzalez), roughly 18 hours after a man was found fatally shot roughly a mile east on the border of the 1st/6th Council districts (Gonzalez/Andrews.)

In the past six weeks, LB has had at least nine shootings (one with no-persons hit in the 8th dist.), six of which were either in the 1st district (Gonzalez) or the neighboring 6th Council district (Andrews.)

LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Melvin McGuire tells LBREPORT.com that at about 10:45 p.m. on Feb. 12, calls began coming in reporting shots fired in the area of the 1100 block of Daisy Ave. (including a call from the victim reporting that he'd been hit.) LBPD located the victim who'd suffered multiple gunshot wounds, LBFD transported him to a hospital...and LBPD's gang investigators are looking into what happened.

Map is unofficial. A separate map (not shown here) indicates add'l shootings in NLB.
