(Feb. 23, 2018, 5:40 a.m., updated 11:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.) -- A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death in a vehicle in the area of Anaheim St./710 freeway.
[UPDATED 4:45 p.m.] In a release, LBPD stated: Upon arrival officers found an unresponsive male adult in his 30’s. The vehicle appeared to have driven off roadway into ivy at slow speeds. Long Beach Fire responded and determined the subject deceased at the scene. Further investigation found that the victim had what appears to be a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Initial information via LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Darren Lance: At about midnight, officers were dispatched to the area of Anaheim St./710 (1st Council district) regarding vehicle accident. They arrived to find the male victim [gender released by LBPD PIO Sgt. Johnson] in a vehicle with a gunshot wound and determined he was deceased. The crime scene is in the area of westbound Anaheim St. to southbound 710. LBREPORT.com will update this story with further information as we learn it.
