(Feb. 21, 2018, 5:22 p.m) -- A student at ELB's Millikan High School was arrested earlier today by LBPD after allegedly making a threat to harm others at the school.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Bradley Johnson says that today (Feb. 21) at approximately 11:15 a.m., the LBPD School Resource Officer assigned to Millikan High "was advised by staff of a possible threat made by a male juvenile student. Students remained safe the entire time but the threat was overheard by classmates who informed staff. The threat was investigated and the student was arrested. The investigation found that the threat was independent of the unsubstantiated Poly [High] threat/arrest. There is no information that the two are related at this time. Investigation is ongoing."

Parents and students were informed of what occurred via an email blast and a voice "robo call" from the school at midafternoon (after regularly scheduled classes had ended for the day.) In a personally voiced robo-call, Millikan Co-Principal Michael Navia communicated that during school "a student made a threat to harm others at the school. Students remained safe the entire time but the threat was overheard by classmates who informed our staff." Co-Principal Navia's message said LBPD "investigated and arrested one of our students who remains in custody" and because "LBPD continues to serve as the investigative agency on this matter" referred questions about the matter to LBPD.

Co-Principal Navia's message added:

"We thank the students who came forward with important information. Please note that we take all threats seriously and we will continue to work closely with out partners in law enforcement to keep our students safe."
