Jan 5, 2002 NLB Murder, Area 55th & Pine 21 yr old victim was riding bicycle when five suspects approached and shot him in head, police say (Jan. 5, 2002) -- A 21 year old LB resident was shot in the head while riding his bicycle in the area of 55th St and Pine Avenue in the 8th Council district on Friday night, dying of his wounds on Saturday morning. Police say the victim, identified as Alfredo Lopez, was riding a chrome, low rider bicycle westbound on E. 55th St just went of Pine Ave. when approximately five male suspects approached, gunfire erupted and Mr. Lopez was shot in the head. The five suspects then ran from the area, westbound on 55th to southbound Pine Ave., police say. LBPD says there were many witnesses at the scene and investigators believe several people witnessed the crime.
