The Long Beach Police Department has released information concerning two events that happened on January 6, 2003. There were two attempted kidnappings of two separate 12 year old girls, that investigators believe could be related. The first incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Hill Street. The suspect approached the girl from behind. He then attempted to pull her towards his vehicle that was parked nearby, however, the victim struggled with the suspect and was able to run away.
A second incident occurred approximately 30 minutes later at 3:30 p.m., in the 2400 block of Atlantic Avenue. A 12 year old female was walking in that area with a friend when the suspect pulled up in his vehicle and began talking to them. While still seated in the vehicle, he grabbed the arm of the victim and began pulling her in, but she pulled away. He then got out of his vehicle, went over to the victim grabbing her from behind, and began to fondle her. The victim was able to push him away and run from the area.
The Long Beach Police Department has issued a description of the suspect based on information provided by the victims and witness. The suspect is described as a male white or light skinned Hispanic with a goatee, 25-30 years old, 5'10" to 6', 160-170 pounds. The suspect also had a tattoo on his right bicep and possible eyebrow piercing. He was seen driving a newer shiny, black vehicle, possibly a convertible Mercedes Benz with tinted windows and a spoiler on the back.
Anyone how may have information regarding the incidents or a possible identity of the suspect is urged to contact Detective Russ Moss at 562-570-7368.
Sincerely,
