Kmart Intends To Close NLB Store at 5450 Cherry Ave. As Part of Chap. 11 Bankruptcy Proceedings

(January 14, 2003) -- Kmart Corporation has announced it intends to close its NLB store at 5450 Cherry Ave. (as well as its City of Carson "Super Kmart") under a company plan to shutter what it called "326 under-performing stores as part of its Chapter 11 financial objectives review."

The NLB Kmart is part of the list of stores that Kmart Corporation has asked the Bankruptcy Court to give final approval at a hearing in Chicago on January 28, 2003.

Kmart's ELB location at Bellflower & Spring will apparently remain open. It is not on the list of stores to be closed.

No closing date was available for the NLB Kmart in a corporate release and an inquiry by LBReport.com to Kmart HQ is pending. (When Kmart HQ gives us a closing date, we'll post it.)
