2003 Arrives With Roughly 92 "Shots Fired" Calls From Just Before Midnight To 3 a.m...And A Suicide On 2d St. In Belmont Shore
(January 1, 2003) -- LBPD reports responding to 92 "shots fired" calls from just before midnight to about 3 a.m.
The first reported gun death in LB -- the first in L.A. County for 2003 -- was self-inflicted in Belmont Shore. Police say that at roughly 1:15 a.m., after a couple had an argument at a business in the 5300 block of 2d St., the man exited the establishment, put a 45 caliber gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger.
