Ancient skull, Jan 13/03(January 13, 2003) -- An ancient Native American skull and other remains were uncovered by workers digging holes for new playground equipment at ELB's St. Lukes Lutheran Church this afternoon.

Ancient skullThe discovery initially sent LBPD units, news vans, reporters and LBPD racing to corner of Wardlow Rd. and San Anseline Ave...but it was soon determined not to be a crime scene investigation.

LBPD told LBReport.com that an archeologist from the L.A. County Coroner's office has determined the remains are those of a Native American, possibly dating back to prehistoric times.

The remains will be turned over to the Native American Heritage Commission.
