(January 21, 2003) -- A water main break caused water to bubble up and the sidewalk and roadway to buckle under part of Bellflower Blvd. south of Atherton St. this afternoon.
As a precaution, crews kept cars off the weakened right lane, creating a temporary bottleneck for northbound traffic at the curve between CSULB and Atherton St. at late afternoon.
At 4:45 p.m., a LB Water Dept. repair crew was already on the way to repair the problem. Assuming no unforeseen circumstances arise, repairs are expected to be completed by roughly 10:00 p.m.
