(January 14, 2003) -- LBPD has announced the arrest of alleged two gang members over two days two separate shooings police identified as gang related.
On Wednesday Jan. 14 at about 3:30 p.m., a 19-year old LB resident was arrested in the 1900 block of Lincoln St. in connection with a Jan. 6 shooting in the 1800 block of west Wardlow Rd. (22-year old victim shot).
In a written release, LBPD says "The suspect was identified through relentless follow-up by Long Beach detectives who worked together with the elite Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT) to locate the suspect." Police say the suspect has been identified as a known gang member and is currently on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. He's now facing charges of attempted murder and parole violation.
On January 13 at about 10:30 p.m., LBPD arrested a 17-year old male who police say has also been identified as a known gang member. He was arrested in the 6900 block of LB Blvd. in connection a January 11 series of shots fired from a handgun at five victims (none hit) standing in front of a house in the 6900 block of Muriel Ave.
LBPD stresses that its quick identification of the suspect "was made possible due to the fact that critical information was provided by community members leading to the suspect's identity. With this information, gang detectives and North Division patrol officers worked together to locate the shooting suspect."
This suspect, now in juvenile custody, will be facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
