News LBPD Takes Attempted Murder Suspect Into Custody, 5400 block Paramount Blvd.
(Jan. 11, 2006) -- Assembling and deploying resources (including SWAT) quickly and quietly at midday today (Jan. 11), LBPD successfully took into custody an attempted murder suspect who'd taken refuge in the 5400 block of Paramount Blvd.
LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. David Cannan says the suspect, Byron Miller, 35, entered someone else's apartment...who called the cops. | Photo credit: Dan Wayne |
Officers checked and determined the suspect was the subject of a warrant on a 2002 attempted murder charge (a shooting, $1 million bail). In view of the suspect's history, officers converged on the location, established a perimeter, evacuated others and activated SWAT.
Sgt. Cannan said that at one point, the suspect allegedly tunneled into a neighboring apartment [!]...but on realizing the strength of the forces arrayed against him (including SWAT), the suspect surrendered without violence. He now faces a number of charges...in addition to the attempted murder charge.
