(Jan. 21, 2007) -- LBPD says a double-murder took place in NLB (near the Bellflower border) shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 21).
Details are sketchy as we post. In a release, LBPD says that at approximately 12:25 a.m., officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the 6400 block of Downey Ave. and found two male adults had been shot while attending a party.
"The first victim was standing out in front of the residence when a group of subjects walked up and fired at him, striking him multiple times. A second victim who was at the back of the residence’s long driveway was struck in the upper torso. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and died a short time later."
Police says both victims are Long Beach residents in their 20's (identification withheld pending notification of next of kin).
"Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the shooting may have been gang-related.it appears the shooting may have been gang-related," LBPD's release says.
