(Jan. 29, 2007) -- As reported predawn Monday Jan. 29 by LBReport.com, Garden Grove PD pursued two carjacking suspects into LB, prompting a search assisted by LBPD in the neighborhood just north of the 22 freeway and east of Studebaker and northward into the adjoining residential area.
We've since receieved a description of what a College Estates Park area resident heard/saw during those hours:
The resident reports being awakened by a helicopter. Streets in the tract leading out of the neighborhood (Stevely, 9th, Anaheim) were blocked by police officers. The resident speculates that the suspects exited the 405, got on the 7th St. exit ramp, made a right at the Studebaker exit sign...and made their way into the vicinity of Salida Ave.
As previously reported by LBReport.com, Garden Grove PD says that shortly after 3:00 a.m. it responded to a GG location where a 65 year old victim reported he'd been struck in the head by one of two subjects and was the victim of a carjacking. GGPD says it spotted the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the westbound 22 freeway at Valley View and pursued it into LB where two subjects exited the vehicle at the Studebaker Rd. offramp near 7th St. and ran into the nearby residential area.
LBPD responded, deployed officers, set up a command post...and shortly before 7 a.m., two suspects were located and taken into custody. GGPD said they're El Monte residents; one is a 20 year-old male Hispanic, the other is a 15 year old Asian juvenile.
