(Jan. 30, 2008) -- At their Jan. 29 meeting, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, at the request of Supervisor Don Knabe (whose district includes LB) approved three $10,000 rewards for information related to an ELB shooting (Jan. 19) that took the lives of Breon Taylor, 15 and Dennis Moses, 17...and a NWLB (Jan. 20) shooting that killed Ikime Sims, 20.
"It is important for the County of Los Angeles to display its resolve in protecting innocent citizens for appalling crimes," said Supervisor Knabe in a release. "In orer to bring these suspects to justice, and demonstrate our intolerance to such deplorable crimes, I believe these rewards should be established, hoping someone will come forward so that we can bring these suspects to justcie."
The Jan. 19 ELB shooting, at a rented meeting hall in the area just south of Carson street and east of Woodruff Ave., took place at an over-capacity party reportedly attended by roughly 200-300 people. The Jan. 20 shooting took place not far from Compton Community College in NW LB.
Anyone with information about the Jan 19 shooting is asked to contact LBPD Detectives Mark McGuire or Hugo Cortes at (562) 570-7244, and regarding the Jan. 20 shooting Detectives William Matsubara or David Rios, at the same number.
