News Three Intriguing Saturday Jan. 10 Downtown Events
(January 9, 2009) -- Three intriguing events are scheduled for downtown LB on Saturday Jan. 10. Two of the events are at the Goods Gallery, an event venue created through the creative reuse of cargo containers.

- 10:00 a.m., Jan. 10, 1st St @ Elm Ave.: Three trees to be named "Keesal," "Young" and "Logan"
"The Law Offices of Keesal, Young & Logan will be honored for their support for urban forestry. Their donation to University by the Sea enabled volunteers, Tree People, California Heights Re-Leaf and the City of Long Beach Department of Public Works to plant 33 new trees in the East Village Arts District. Keeping true to the East Village aesthetic, each tree will be memorialized with a plaque custom-made by local metal artist Kevin Chartier. The public is invited to attend...Free Parking at the Broadway Lot (on Broadway between Long Beach Boulevard and Elm)."
- 11:00 a.m., Jan. 10, Goods Gallery -- LB Blvd. @ Broadway: Free Writing Workshop: Playwriting
"Books by Authors announces a series of free writing workshops open to the public. In this kick-off workshop, practice your playwriting skills with Alive Theater. Each workshop will open with a brief history of North Long Beach and workshop leaders will use North Long Beach as inspiration for writing topics. This workshop is part of Book by Authors: North Long Beach Anthology, a Connected Corridor project supported by the Knight Foundation. Book by Authors is publishing entries that are about, inspired by or include North Long Beach...Free Parking."

"Don't miss two outstanding showcases by Alexis Gregg and EcoSutra Media. This is the latest in a series of exhibitions at the Goods Gallery, a multi-use art space made of repurpsed cargo containers. EcoSutra Media raises awareness for sustainable projects using Fractal Art, Interactive Art Installations, Live Visual Painting, Poetry Reading and Soundscapes.
