(Jan. 20, 2010, updated) -- LBReport.com has learned that flooding we showed readers yesterday in the CSULB area -- and LBReport.com community correspondent Daryl Supernaw documented at Atherton St/Palo Verde Ave.-- resulted after power failed to a City of LB storm drain pump station east of Palo Verde on Atherton St.

LB Water Dept. spokesman Matt Veeh tells LBReport.com>:
Yesterday, one of the city's storm drain pumping stations near Atherton and Palo Verde lost power, causing the water in the area to back up. The power failure happened when one of the legs in the power supply from Edison blew off. Our crews responded and set up a portable generator, which started draining the water in the immediate area around 4 PM and approximately 45 minutes later, Edison crews showed up and restored power to the pumping station.
LBReport.com requested a response from SCE; it will be added here as received.
