"My heart was telling me to do one thing but my better judgment is telling me not to," Mr. Jensen told LBReport.com this afternoon (Jan. 14).
Mr. Jensen: I couldn't devote the time to do it right. So many people were asking me to do this, I received much encouragement in meeting with homeowner groups...but I was letting my desire to believe them to overshadow my good judgment.
Had I been able to spend time doing a really good campaign 6-7 months ago, would have done it. but I had business and personal commitments that prevented it. I couldn't begin 7 months ago; it just wasn't possible.
So to save peple a lot of time and money for the next 90 days, I have to say that it's just not the right time for me to do it.
I'm very sorry if I've disappointed a lot of people in this; I know it's the best thing to do. I always pride myself on my good judgment, and this time my heart got ahead of my good judgment
Ninety days is just not enough time to run a well-funded campaign to unseat DeLong. I regret I didn't have the time to begin the campaign earlier.
I've never been interested in making the run just to annoy some people.
Tom Marchese, VP of the University Park Neighborhood Ass'n/Boardmember Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust) has pulled City Clerk papers and says he will challenge Councilman DeLong in the April 2010 election.
