Shooting (Jan. 9), 1600 block Locust Ave.

(Jan. 12, 2012, updated 2:42 p.m.) -- As first reported yesterday (Jan. 11) on our front page (www.LBReport.com), a shooting took place on Jan. 9 in the 1600 block of Locust Ave., just blocks from the scene of a murder the next day (Jan. 11).

LBPD Public Information Officer Lisa Massacani says olfficers responded at roughly 10:49 p.m. to a "shots fired" call and found a male juvenile (17 yrs old) suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a hospital; LBPD's investigation is continuing.

[UPDATE] LBPD PIO Massacani says the incident has been assigned to LBPD's Gang Detail.

On Jan. 7, a shooting took place in the area of 14th St./Cedar Ave. in which a male juvenile was shot and wounded.

On Jan. 11, a 26 year old man was fatally shot in the 200 block of W. 14th St. [at Pacific Ave.],

The two non-fatal shootings, as well as the Jan. 11 murder, are in the 1st Council district, roughly a mile due north of LB's City Hall/Civic Center and within roughly a couple of blocks of the "Mayor's Build" Habitat for Humanity house now occupied by a family chosen by Mayor Bob Foster.
