Predawn Shots Fired (Jan. 5), No One Appears Hit, Area 1900 block Henderson Ave.

(Jan. 6, 2012) -- Gunfire was reported in the South Wrigley area in the predawn hours yesterday (Thurs. Jan. 5)...although no one was apparently hit.

LBPD Public Information Officer Lisa Massacani says the shots were fired in the 1900 block of Henderson Ave. at around 4:00 a.m. but weren't phoned in until about 6:44 a.m.

Purple X's indicate shots without person hit. Red X's include 2011 murders. We haven't updated our color coding yet for 2012 murders.

As previously reported by LBReport.com, roughly eight hours after the predawn south-Wrigley gunfire, two men were fired upon at about noon in the area of 21st St/Orange Ave. -- also in the 6th Council district. One of the men was struck and killed; the person with whom he was walking wasn't hit.

The 1900 block of Henderson Ave., site of the predawn Wrigley gunfire, is the area of a now-former south Wrigley Community Garden, which had been leased by the LB Housing Development Corporation to "Wrigley is Going Green Association" for a two year term on the recommendation of 6th dist. Councilman Dee Andrews. (SignalTribune.com reported the transaction at that time.)
